About JUVÉDERM®

JUVÉDERM® is a family of hyaluronic acid fillers intended to lift and smooth deep furrows and creases. The hyaluronic acid in all HA fillers is identical to the hyaluronic acid that you already possess in abundance in your skin. As such, it is biocompatible and will break down completely over time into sugars that are naturally eliminated. In the United States, JUVÉDERM® injectable gel (including JUVÉDERM® Ultra, JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus, JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC, JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC, and JUVÉDERM Voluma) is indicated for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds), and lifting the cheek area.

JUVÉDERM®

FAQ & More Info.

Of course! JUVÉDERM® has a wonderful lifting capacity, so you can have a little or a lot for a small or a greater benefit.

Some HA fillers have a granular consistency. JUVÉDERM® has unique HYLACROSS™ technology, which gives JUVÉDERM® XC its special smooth-gel consistency. You’ll get a smooth, natural look and feel that holds up over time—so everyone will notice (but no one will know)! Because it is so smooth, I find that JUVÉDERM Ultra XC is especially nice in small amounts in the lips.

JUVÉDERM Voluma is a very special, highly crosslinked hyaluronic acid gel that actually lifts the skin of the midcheek area. Small amounts will recontour the face and help to reverse the volume deficits that naturally occur with aging. It is its high cohesivity that allows it to create significant changes in facial volume with very small amounts. once placed, it will last for two years. In a clinical study, patients reported looking up to five years younger at six months after treatment.

Like all of the hyaluronic acid fillers, it can be broken down with a tiny amount of hyaluronidase enzyme. Many patients find this reassuring, as they know they can have the effects reversed immediately (although they love the results so much, they do not find they choose to do so).

But for all of you who love the effect, you will be happy to know that it lasts in the skin for about a year to two years, depending upon which JUVEDERM filler is being injected.

Dr. Clark is skilled at creating a very natural result, often using photographs of you from a slightly younger age to better understand your facial structure and unique characteristics. Many different areas of the face, as well as the hands, can be treated, depending upon where you have lost volume. Each treatment is highly individualized to ensure that you will leave the office feeling that you have attained a more revitalized appearance while retaining a completely natural look.

Dr. Clark is adept at the new and advanced use of cannulas, which are blunt-tipped, rather than sharp needles, to minimize discomfort and bruising, whereever possible. She will counsel you on what to avoid and the use of medicated products to minimize the possibility of bruising. With these measures, bruising is not common or severe. She will provide laser treatments free of charge should you happen to develop a bruise, to hasten its resolution. She can also give you tips on how to cover bruising with makeup using specific yellow or green camouflage tints.

Since lidocaine is pre-mixed with JUVÉDERM® prior to injection, discomfort is minimal, but Dr. Clark will work with you if you are particularly sensitive. Topical anesthetics, the use of ice and vibration, and even nerve blocks can be helpful in such cases, but are rarely necessary.
