Sheryl D. Clark, M.D. is one of New York City’s

All manner of factors, both internal and external, can lead to concerns with your skin. From sun damage to the natural aging process, our skin can lose its texture and become wrinkled over the years. But with laser skin resurfacing, you can rejuvenate your skin so it both looks and feels years younger.
At MD Skin Science, we dedicate ourselves to helping our patients look the way they want. We are able to choose from many different modalities, including radiofrequency, fractionated radiofrequency, subcutaneous radiofrequency, high-intensity focused ultrasound, fractionated co2, ndYag Laser Genesis, laser peels, and microneedling, depending on your needs. Our goal is to provide top-of-the-line procedures to our patients to boost their looks and confidence.
How Laser Skin Resurfacing Can Improve Your Skin’s Appearance
Laser skin resurfacing is a non-surgical approach to reducing facial wrinkles, laxity and improving your skin’s texture and look. In addition to fighting wrinkles, resurfacing can treat skin blemishes and even acne scarring. It works by using short, concentrated bursts of light on the target treatment areas. These beams of light precisely remove the damaged layers of skin but leave the surrounded skin safe and protected.
Once the damaged skin is removed, your body naturally heals with healthy skin. The result is a smooth, tighter, and more even skin texture around the treatment area with fewer wrinkles.
What Problems & Areas Can Laser Skin Resurfacing Treat?
Laser skin resurfacing can effectively treat:
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Loose or sagging skin
- Blemishes such as age spots, brown spots, and freckles
- Rough textured skin
- Scars from either acne or surgery
- Enlarged pores
When performed by a trained professional, laser skin resurfacing treatments can treat almost any area of your body. Most often, patients have the treatment on their facial area. However, they can also benefit other parts such as the hands, neck, chest, and more.
What Is the Treatment Like?
In general, laser skin resurfacing is a fast and comfortable procedure. Though your session time will depend on the areas treated, you can usually expect a treatment session to last well under one hour. However, a full-face treatment can last up to two hours because of the need for extra precision. Since the treatment is not a surgery, you do not need to worry about putting yourself through the strain of anesthetic. At most, some patients may have a topical numbing cream to ensure complete comfort. Even without numbing, most patients report a sensation no worse than a light snapping of a rubber band.
Once your treatment is over, you can return to your daily life right away. However, you may have some redness and swelling around the treated site for several days. But this is entirely normal and is just your body’s natural reaction to the heat energy.

Otherwise, we can recommend you to a surgeon who can help you get the rejuvenated look you desire. In every case, our focus is to help you reach your goals in the way that is safest and best for you.
When Can I See Results?
As your body responds to the laser treatment, you will begin to see your results improve daily. At first there can be some redness and swelling, so these can obscure your results. As you care for the treated areas, your new skin will heal. Most patients are fully healed and can see their results with three weeks, though it can be as soon as a week for some patients. Over the next six months you can also expect some additional improvements.
Your results should be long-lasting, especially for improved texture or scar treatment. However, the aging process does continue, so we recommend touchup treatments to ensure your skin stays beautiful in years to come. Some patients may also require more than one treatment, especially for more severe wrinkling or scar reduction.
